New House Kitchen Planning

Image
We are just a few short weeks away from closing on our new house & we are so so so excited. One of the first things going down on closing day will be demo in the current kitchen.  The layout of the kitchen is great, it is smaller than our current one, but has a great working triangle & lots of natural light. The biggest problem with the kitchen in its current state is the cabinets. They are old, the drawers hardly open, all of the shelves are missing inside of them, and the part that contains the current wall oven is falling apart all together. Also, I really wanted a totally different style of doors, so we decided to start from scratch. The current kitchen has an electric cooktop, and we will gas lines ran so that we can install a full size gas range with a hood above it, and plan to do some open shelving on either side of the hood. We ordered a white farm sink & plan to look at honed quartz counter tops this weekend. For years, I always imagined having an a

Blackened Fish Tacos + Avocado Sauce

Image
This might be my favorite recipe of all time, we have made it four times in the last two weeks & I just cannot get enough. I have been hunting down the perfect components for a good fish taco recipe, and we came to the conclusion that it needs a good blackened fish, a flavorful, crunchy slaw & a cool avocado topping. So I am sharing the recipe today & giving you a fair warning that you may need to make a quick run to the grocery store! ;) For the fish //   4-5 tilapia filets 2 tsp smoked paprika 1 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp salt 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (depending on how spicy you like it!) 2 tbsp olive oil 10-12 corn tortillas For the slaw //   1/4 red cabbage, chopped 1/2 medium red onion, diced 1/2 cup cilantro juice of 1 lime  For the avocado sauce // 1 ripe avocado 1/2 cup sour cream 1/4 cup cilantro juice of 1 lime sprinkle of sea salt Directions // 1. Summer So Far

Image
Summer 2016 has been the bees freaking knees. The girls are all at such fun ages, this is the first summer in two years that we haven't had a new baby (sounds crazy right?) so it feels good to be able to run and go and not have to stop to nurse or keep a little one out of the heat. I have said it a million times, I am so thankful that Claire is such an easy going baby. Also maybe a little thankful that she isn't walking yet. ;) It has been hectic trying to sell our house, but is kinda fun being forced to stay out of it. We've been to the zoo, the pool, the splash pad, the lake & every park in town. But my kids favorite place to be is on the slip n slide in the front yard. The girls became obsessed with learning how to chew gum. Harper will randomly have hers in her mouth for two hours and then ask if she can spit it out after we have all totally forgotten she had it, and Eloise usually swallows hers in the first thirty seconds

Summer Snacking on the go with Annie's Homegrown

Image
Harper is headed off to dance camp this week, and we thought this was the perfect opportunity to share how we do wholesome snacking on the go!! We have been huge fans of Annie's Homegrown since our kids started eating solids. They make delicious snacks that our kids love & we feel good about feeding them. So today, we are excited to be teaming up with Annie's Homegrown to talk about some of our favorite summer camp approved toddler snacks! First on the list, Annie’s Organic Chewy Granola Bars in chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin & peanut butter chocolate chip. I love these for so many reasons, they are certified organic, with 8g whole grains in every bar & they have no artificial flavors, synthetic colors or preservatives. My kids seem to love granola bars as snacks, as they feel independent opening packaging on their own & carrying it around without having to be put in a bowl. They're great for a quick breakfast or something we can thro

Sweet as a Peach Chalkboard Print

Image
Thank you all so much for your kind words about Claire's birthday, it was such a fun party to plan! I wanted to share the chalkboard print that I made for her party, for anyone who may be planning a peach or fruity themed party in the future, or just to use a a fun, summery print to hang. This makes me want to use colored chalk more! All you have to do is open the photo full size & save it to your desktop, then you are able to upload it to a photo printer or have it printed at staples/office depot as a poster size print if you'd like! Happy Sunday! XO

Claire Vivien // One Year

Image
Baby Claire, one whole year old!! We might just have to call her baby Claire forever. It has been her nickname that just fits her, along with ky and ky baby, both made up by her sissies. We are going on almost a week of singing "happy birthday dear ky ky!" during every meal, which is pretty standard for any celebration in our house. We took her one year picture with her stuffed kitty on her birthday to compile with the others, Harper kept reminding me how the kitty used to be bigger than Claire, and she was right. It is so bittersweet to put these all together! I have never been that great at keeping up with milestone photos of my girls, but I am sure glad I did just enough of these to make myself cry a little. Oh what I would give for one more snuggle with newborn Claire!! :) Harper & Eloise wanted to help pick out her birthday cake, and their only request was lots of "finkles!" Which they succeeded at. Claire is my most laid back baby, she
